Compulsory Purchase
Many local authority and government agencies serve Compulsory Purchase Orders on property owners and tenants when they need to take land for public works such as Road and Rail Schemes and Regeneration Projects.
However, there is a Compensation Code that these Acquiring Authorities are obliged to use. The aim of which is pay enough compensation to put the property owner or tenant in the same financial position after the scheme as they were before, no better and no worse.
In certain cases Compensation Claims can be made even when no land is taken!
These claims are made under Part 1 of the Land Compensation Act 1973.

We have also assisted on many schemes but recently we have played an important part in dealing with the Olympic Games Compulsory Purchase Order in Stratford, east London.
Our role was to work closely alongside the London Development Agency (Acquiring Authority) and the local businesses to assist their relocation from the Olympic Park.
We specialised in the difficult businesses such as car breakers yards and waste transfer depots, plant hire companies , concrete batching plant and garment companies.
In addition we have worked closely with the Travelling Community to assist their relocation. We have also assisted with Project Management of the scheme and helped find sites for firms to relocate to and obtain the relevant planning permissions.
Our role has also included Estate Management for the relocated businesses.
